Alix Perez (Belgium/UK) and Eprom (USA) (Alix Depauw and Alexander Dennis respectively) are SHADES. Alix and Eprom are bass and dance music stalwarts, who have grown to become some of the more influential artists amongst their peers today.

Their debut self titled EP (released on Alpha Pup) is a truly unique body of work. The 85 bpm onslaught is perfect for multiple genres of DJ’s. It is a hard bass driven musical anomaly that is so different, yet fits in perfectly. XLR8R have rightly said “music that's not only a legitimate full-frontal assault in the same vein as tunes from that golden era of gluttonous bass and synths, but that embraces that ethos while giving it a more polished feel”.

Their Second EP “Powers of Two’, was an immediate success, and saw them being booked for shows globally. SHADES toured Europe, Australia and New Zealand in 2015. They are currently on tour in the United States and Canada, and their music has been championed by all of their own biggest influences including The Gaslamp Killer and Amon Tobin.
Their third and highly anticipated EP is due for release on September 2nd 2016 on Alix Perez’ personal and highly acclaimed imprint, 1985 Music. The new material is a testament testament to their ethos for progression. It is a hard, dynamic and forward thinking music that works at home, or on a system. It is testament to their maturity and innate progressive attitude toward music.

They have toured Australia, New Zealand, the whole of Europe, Canada, and also the United States several times already since their very recent conception. They are about to embark on another tour of the US, having only just recently finished one. Watch this space.

North London trio Ivy Lab were brought together out of a shared enthusiasm for experimentations on the fringes of the Drum'n'Bass scene. Several years on from that initial coming together, the collective go from strength to strength; propagating a new generation of sub-genres housed within the framework of their '20/20' project.

The middle of the noughties saw collective-elder Gove Kidao build up a sustained presence as a Producer/DJ operating under the name Sabre, working on disparate interpretations of the drum and bass genre for labels ranging from Renegade Hardware to Metalheadz to Darkestral. In 2009 Critical Music served not only as the home for Sabre's debut long player, but also the debut track from an unknown young talent advocated by Sabre to the label. J Fogel a.k.a Stray enjoyed broad acclaim for his inaugural release "Timbre", and began to work on further projects for Critical Music, including collaborating with Sabre himself. Unknown to them both, each had independently struck up a relationship with another emerging talent operating under the moniker Halogenix. Collaborating as separate duos soon expanded into combining into a formal trio, casting the foundations of the collective that exists today.
